Public comments requested on Draft Management Plan for the Tobeatic Wilderness Area

April 24, 2004

After two years of community stakeholder group consultations (Tobeatic Advisory Group) the Nova Scotia Government has released a Draft Management Plan for the Tobeatic Wilderness Area. Public comments on the plan are now being accepted. It is very important that all members of the public who have an interest in wilderness conservation in general and the Tobeatic Wilderness Area in particular participate in this important process. Many of the decisions made for this, the largest Protected Wilderness Area in Nova Scotia, will likely have an impact on the future management of all Protected Areas in Nova Scotia.

For more information and to submit your comments please visit:
http://www.gov.ns.ca/enla/pareas/mpetobea.htm

The deadline for submissions is June 4, 2004.

A series of public Open House Information Sessions will also be held in various locations around the province:

  • Liverpool - May 13, Trinity Church Hall
  • Yarmouth - May 17, Rodd Grand Hotel
  • Shelburne - May 18, Christ Church Hall
  • Digby - May 19, Trinity Anglican Church
  • Annapolis Royal - May 20, Fire Hall
  • Halifax (HRM) - May 25, Alderney Gate Library (Dartmouth)

All open houses will take place from 3pm to 7pm.

Please make sure your voice is heard in support of this important conservation process.
